EdenPure Heater Review & Comparison: DO NOT BUY EdenPure. Period

Not an efficient Space heater. Not a durable heater, either.

While looking up affordable, durable, and safe space heaters, we had come across Edenpure space heaters. They seemed to be the “environmental” choice. When looking at reviews and comparisons, we noticed that this company has pissed off a lot of customers. Therefore, we do not recommend them.

Here is some space heater information and products that we recommend. We hope that the information is valuable to you. But lets read up on EdenPure heaters first.

Here are the arguments against EdenPure. And a great story we took from a forum that is also linked. If you think otherwise, feel free to contact us.

From Infomercial Link above:

I received a Edenpue 1000 as a gift, and was not given the sales receipt/paperwork. When I tried the unit it came on, then cut off, never to come back on again. I thought something may be wrong with the thermostat, so I called Customer Service.

I spoke to a young man who was unfamilar with the product. After being placed on hold several times and 5 minutes later, he told me he was unable to help, and transfered me to another department. Again I was several minutes on hold before reaching someone.

After explaining the problem with the heater again; I was asked if it was in a room with a T.V.? Since it wasn’t, I answered No. I asked if that was a problem. It was explained that the units sometimes won’t work in a room with a T.V. and remote.

Since this wasn’t the case I asked about taking the unit to an authorized repair facility in my area. I was told he had to be returned to the company. My unit was new and manufactured in 2007. It has the serial number and return for service information stamped on the back plate, along with the phone number for customer service.

I was willing to pay shipping and repair cost since the unit was past the original 90 day warranty. They would not allow me to send the unit back for service unless I could provide the information from the original paperwork. The customer rep explained they have several companies making these units under the Edenpure name and I had to prove it was one of their units.

I again said I could provide the serial and manufacturing information from the unit and they could verify the information. It shouldn’t make a difference if another company was contracted to manufactured the unit for them or not, the unit should be able to serviced. After all how many other brand name products are manufactured at different locataions, including overseas and they can still be repaired by a authorized repair service or the company itself.

But according to customer service it does. They would not allow me to return the unit for repair, a lost to me and the person who purchased it for about $300.00. I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone !!! Customer Service is a joke !!! This company should be investigated.

You can tell the good reviews of Edenpure heaters are fake because:

  • They emphasize saving money. When you get a space heater, the reason you get it is to save money. No one eats a cheeseburger and says “Wow, I am so full now!”. Usually reviews talk of the efficiency and the gadgets and the durability. Rare would someone write how much it saves money unless they have a penchant for making redundant statements on random websites.
  • Emphasize buying multiple heaters. These things are $300. If you run more than 2 of these things, not only are you not saving much money, but you are saving less money with $600 more equipment in your house. Not saying that buying two is inefficient; I find it hard-pressed that so many people bought two of the same space heaters, and wrote about it.
  • Square Footing?: Very few people know the square footing of their home, let alone be able to boast about how X square feet in their home is heated. Seldom do you find square footing and space heater comments put together. Reviews yes. Company promoting yes. Comments no. Especially in this forum there are a lot of people talking about square feet.
  • Too many numbers: Most of the posts talk of people’s bills and compared them with this instrument. It makes sense, but too many people are tallying up numbers on the board. Every three posts praising it has someone talking about their bills and savings, and about how they bought 2-3 more ( which I would think would be overkill on the electric bill ).
  • Complaining about disgruntled customers: Unless the product is something political or stirs passion, customers don’t write about other customers. And a lot of upset customers were upset at poor customer service.
  • Defending Customer Service: Who writes a review defending bad customer service and product, other than someone who may have interest in the product or company? Some people would if they have a passion for the product, but not to the point of defending an appliance. Especially if the appliances consistently have been listed as breaking down and not working. Defending customer service, or using customer service to convey tips or suggestions for a simple product, is a clear sign of a fake comment.

EdenPure. Do Not Buy It. It is a Scam. Too much evidence suggest this is so. And Space Heaters are much cheaper. Edenpure sucks. Edenpure has too many problems.
